Citizen Facilitators

Citizen facilitators work directly with the sheriff’s office, rescue organizations, and Citizen Fosters to coordinate the animals’ care. Facilitators are the frontline contacts from law enforcement through the legal process of seizing animals. The sheriff’s office will contact facilitators arrange housing and transport from the scene to the Citizen Foster’s facilities. Facilitators work directly with the sheriff’s office to receive funds for pre-approved veterinary needs, food, bedding, etc.

Facilitators are also responsible for working directly with animal rescue organizations to help place rescued animals after the legal process is completed. Facilitators field calls, concerns, or issues throughout the process. Facilitators schedule veterinarian appointments for law enforcement and Citizen Fosters.

Facilitators must be flexible and reachable. At times, Facilitators may need to perform inspections during a temporary foster if law enforcement is unable to do this in a timely manner.

Volunteer

Badges and Paws has a multitude of opportunities for volunteers who love animals. From minor time requirements to significant, from experienced animal handlers to novice, we have something for everyone who wants to help.

Citizen Fosters

Citizens are encouraged to apply to become temporary fosters. You’ll help us by housing rescued animals until they can be legally placed. The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office has saved dogs, cats, cows, horses, goats and more. Sometimes a foster is required for days; sometimes for months. It just depends on how long it takes to hand the animal(s) over to a qualified rescue organization that can legally proceed with the adoption process.

Citizen Fosters are required to sign an agreement with Badges and Paws, to pass an inspection of their facilities, and to agree to spot inspections/visits from the sheriff’s office during the foster period.

Other Volunteer Opportunities

Badges and Paws has many more opportunities for the community to volunteer their time. Public events, fund drives, food drives, animal transportation, organizing donated supplies, and other activities require a team effort, and we’d love to have you as part of our team.
